The Chicago Fellows program is now accepting applications for a December 23rd, 2021, deadline.  This program is designed to enable BSD faculty to recruit postdoctoral scientists to the University of Chicago, offering a competitive stipend supported by the Division.  The program seeks highly qualified postdoctoral candidates who will have either recently completed the PhD or MD degree (within the past three years) or will have received their doctoral degree by the time they propose to begin the fellowship. Individuals already holding paid postdoctoral positions at the University of Chicago are not eligible for nomination unless they started their postdoctoral position September 1, 2021, or later.

The fellowship is designed to attract new talent to come to the University and work in the laboratory of a BSD faculty member.  As such, an essential part of all applications is a letter of sponsorship from the BSD faculty member with whom the applicant proposes to work, outlining the research program the candidate will complete over a two-year funding period in their laboratory.  We would encourage you to reach out to peer institutions and to mention this opportunity in any presentations you give so that we can identify candidates for this highly competitive program. We seek a diverse pool of applicants who wish to join an academic community that places the highest value on rigorous inquiry and encourages diverse perspectives, experiences, groups of individuals, and ideas to inform and stimulate intellectual challenge, engagement, and exchange.

All applications will be reviewed by a committee of faculty members representing a wide range of disciplines.  Additional application requirements and information can be found on the program’s website.
