The BSD Chicago Fellows Program supports the career advancement of exceptional and creative postdoctoral scientists. This year’s fellowships have been awarded to three outstanding early-career scientists; two Chicago Fellowships have been awarded to Shiri Kult and Rachel Moran, and a DFI Fellowship has been awarded to Helen A. Beilinson.

  • Shiri Kult earned her PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. Under the mentorship of Neil Shubin, Dr. Kult will use evolutionary and developmental approaches to study the respiratory system regeneration.
  • Rachel Moran earned her PhD at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and will work with mentor Marcus Kronforst to study the evolutionary mechanisms driving species discrimination.
  • Helen A. Beilinson, who earned her PhD at Yale University, will study the role of innate and adaptive immune mechanisms in shaping intestinal microbiota, under the mentorship of Tatyana Golovkina and Alexander Chervonsky.
